The map below is truly a masterpiece if you love warm temperatures, as we're about to enter one of the earliest heat waves in recent memory, and possibly one of the earliest of the past decade.
It's a little bit early to figure give exact temperatures but a range of low 20's at the beaches and upper 20's in the eastern Fraser Valley is completely acceptable in my books, as of now.
For the record, I think the all-time April temperature records at YVR (25C is VERY safe), and also the 29.8C for Abbotsford, since the warmest temperatures of this warm snap will fall on May 1st.
First, what's the source of this heat?
- Upper level ridge will begin to build in later tonight which will produce moderate offshore gradients for the next 72 hours
- 500MB heights will approach 570-575 for Thursday, showing significant warming in the upper levels
- 850 Temps will be well above normal (up to 15C in fact
- Marine Push will take place on Friday, knocking temperatures down by 4-6C
Tentative temperature forecast for Thursday (Warmest Day) for 5PM
Close to the beaches: 20-22C
Enjoy it, because more typical weather pattern will develop by the weekend, with some below normal temperatures.
