January 2015: By The Numbers

I'm truly amazed at how dynamic our weather was for January, Van, so I thought I'd run through some numbers with you  a segment that will likely become a tradition.

Weather By Numbers

30,000: Approximately the number of customers that lost power during the Victoria windstorm on January 17th

156: total number of millimeters of rain that has fallen so far (As of January 27th)

99: The percentile of our upper level temperatures (~ 1500 metres) on some of the warmest days

19: The range in degrees YVR observed for the Month of January (-5 C to +14 C)

7: Number of double digit high temperatures 

2: Number of atmospheric river events

 

1: Day(s) at or below seasonal since January 15th

 

0: Number of happy ski resorts

Looking forward to February? A trend towards average or slightly below normal temperatures may be a possibility during the first or second week of February.
